Philadelphia-based violist Hannah Rose Nicholas has been a soloist at the Lucerne Festival Academy, Kennedy Center, University of Texas, El Paso, and the New World Symphony, where she was praised for her “rich tonal sonority” (South Florida Classical Review). She is also a singer-songwriter and improviser, performing alongside jazz, world, and bluegrass musicians from Nashville, Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Canada, and Lebanon.
Hannah has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, New World Symphony (co-principal), Central City Opera Orchestra (principal), and the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra (principal). She was a featured artist with the O, Miami Poetry Festival, the Barnes Ensemble (Philadelphia), and most recently at Lincoln Center and Berklee School of Music with her viola duo, Shizuka.
Hannah can be heard on The alt Default EP and her debut single – Wanderers (2018). She studied viola with Kim Kashkashian, Paul Hersh, Jonathan Vinocour, and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
