Artistic Director’s Message

Dear audience, patrons, musicians, volunteers and committee members,

Thank you for your unbelievable support this season for the 16th season of Festival de Febrero. Rarely did we see an empty seat in the hall, and if we did, it was usually because the audience was giving a standing ovation! We musicians feel so lucky to have such an engaged and cultured audience in Ajijic. Nothing gets us musicians more excited than playing for a full and attentive house.

Our volunteers and committee members deserve a huge part of our thanks. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this festival move forward. They donate their time, experience, creativity and hard work all year round to make this event go off without a hitch. They are the heart and soul of this festival. If you know of someone on the working committee or is a volunteer for the festival, tell them “thank you” for their hard work in bringing such talent to lakeside. They deserve it.

We were also blessed this year with an uptick in donations from our patrons base. With a record number of Conductor Circle patrons and six new Benefactors, we’ve managed to find a way to be one of the only classical music festivals in the world that is solvent without the help of a corporate sponsor. The stresses of constant fundraising was greatly tempered with this help and enabled us to focus more intently on preparing and planning first rate performances for you.

Without these three pillars of support; audience, volunteers and patronage we wouldn’t have been able to bring such wonderful artists and performances to the stage. Thanks to all who participated and we look forward to seeing you in our audience again next year!
