Dovid Friedlander (violin) has been the Associate Concertmaster of the North Carolina Symphony since 2005.
Before going to Raleigh, he played with the Columbus Symphony and was the Assistant Concertmaster with the San Antonio Symphony.
Other performing experiences include the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood Music Festival and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on European tours. Friedlander has performed as a soloist with NCS each season, including the rarely played and rhythmically difficult Hindemith Kammermusik No. 4, Mozart’s Fourth and Fifth Violin Concertos, Ravel’s Tzigane, Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2, Bach E major, Hadyn Symphonia Concertante, Bach Double for Oboe, and Violin and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
In November 2018, Friedlander was asked to perform as guest concertmaster with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and in January 2019, he performed Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Winston-Salem Symphony.
During the times that Dovid was not performing as the Concertmaster for the summer festival with the NCSO, he performed and taught at festivals including the Sebago Music Festival, MYCO Summer Music Festival, Festival del Lago and the Triada Music Festival.
In addition to this, he has performed chamber music with Branford Marsalis, Clara Yang, Atar Arad, members of the Ciompi String Quartet, and Christopher Taylor.
